Meet the members of our Teaching and Administrative Team

ESTHER LAU

Co-founder, Managing Director

Esther is a Chartered Secretary by profession. Her passion for dance, especially, Zumba®, was enkindled when she joined her first Zumba® fitness class in Kuala Lumpur.

Esther decided to take up training and joined the Zumba® Instructors’ Network (“ ZIN™ ”). She has been a licensed Zumba® Instructor since May 2019.

She persisted through endeavors and further took up trainings in Zumba® Gold, Aqua Zumba® and Zumba® Toning. She intends to share her love and passion with everyone. Esther believes that anyone can dance, regardless of age, level or gender. Together with Michael’s passion in classical ballet and modern jazz, Esther aspired to set up a dance school with Michael. Hence, Star Magic: Dance School Cambodia was incorporated in the year 2020 during the pandemic era.

Both Co-founders share a mutual understanding targeted towards the further expansion and development of opportunities for classical ballet, coupled with the introduction of Modern Jazz amongst the countries’ dance communities in light of its increased popularity in the Asia Pacific region.

Michael also successfully competed in various competitions such as: Get the Beat 2016 in Singapore winning 1st Place for Jazz Solo and overall Top 5 Competitor; CSTD’s Regional Dance Competition 2016 in Singapore winning Honourable Mention for National Dance Solo, 3rd Place for Lyrical Solo and 1st Place for Contemporary Solo; and lastly at Get the Beat 2017 in Malaysia winning 2nd Place for Hip Hop Solo, 2nd for Demi Character Solo and 1st Place for Song and Dance Solo Category. In 2016, he is the winner for CSTD Elite Talent Academy 20th Anniversary Award for Outstanding Male Dancer where he received a Trophy in honour of the late CSTD President Mr. Leslie Newman
